Beadle County States Attorney Mike Moore says he is only taking over on the McCahren case. Braiden McCahren is charged with first degree murder, attempted murder and aggravated assault in relation to the shooting death of 16-year-old Dalton Williams on December 18th of last year. Deputy State’s Attorney Wendy Kloeppner will lead the office while Hughes County finds a replacement for Gors, who cited health reasons for his decision to resign after only three months in the position. He was sworn in as states attorney in November after running unopposed for re-election. Moore believes his experience handling high profile murder cases was one of the reasons Gors asked Moore to help….
In 2009, Moore’s office handled four homicide investigations, three of which led to plea deals and one that went to trial in late June of 2011. Commissioners have not yet decided how they will proceed in selecting a new state’s attorney.
