Mitchell Man Pleads Not Guilty to Murder Charges

A Mitchell man charged with first and second-degree murder in the stabbing death of a 30-year old man last month in downtown Mitchell has pleaded not guilty.

49-year old Anthony Lewis was originally charged with manslaughter in the stabbing death of Quinn Schleuning in the early morning hours on August 22nd outside of an apartment on East 2nd Avenue.  After being awakened by screaming and someone knocking on his door, Lewis allegedly picked up a knife, went outside his apartment complex, and confronted Schleuning.  Lewis stabbed Schleuning four times and told authorities he was defending himself.

A trial date was set for December.
