Mitchell’s Starlite Drive-Inn Theater will close for good at the end of the summer, that according to owner Jeff Logan.
Logan says this is purely a technology issue.
He says the announcement to stop using film will likely hurt the drive-inn industry nationwide.
The Starlite Drive-Inn Theater was built in 1949. Logan purchased it in 1976, closing it in 1986 and re-opening it in 1993. Logan owns the Huron Luxury Cinama in Huron. South Dakota has six drive-in movie theaters, including the Midway Drive-In between St Lawerance and Miller.
