A Miller man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for attempted Commercial Sex Trafficking of a Child and Attempted Enticement of a Minor Using the Internet stemming from a crime in Pierre. 34 year old Joseph Raleigh was indicted last Tuesday and pled not guilty in front of Magistrate Judge Mark Moreno Wednesday. If convicted, Raleigh faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in custody. A maximum conviction would carry life in prison and up to a 25,000 dollar fine. The indictment alleges that on Friday October 16th, in Pierre, Raleigh did knowingly attempt to solicit a child to engage in a commercial sex act. It is alleged that he used the internet to engage in the commercial sex act. Raleigh was remanded to the custody of the US Marshalls Service. A trial date has not been set.
