Medical Issues Not Expected to Affect Lynyrd Skynyrd’s State Fair Show

The decision by Southern rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd to cancel their concert at the Buffalo Chip in Sturgis triggered rumors last week that lead vocalist Johnny Van Zandt had suffered a heart attack.

In fact, the medical issue involved original Skynyrd member Gary Rossington, who underwent a procedure on August 4th to address blockages in his arteries. According to the band’s website, they will resume their tour this Friday.

Candi Briley with the SD State Fair, says the Fair has been in contact with Lynyrd Skynyrd’s management regarding the band’s Sept. 2nd Grandstand appearance.

Briley reminds the public that tickets for all the Grandstand entertainment are on sale now.

In addition to Lyrnyrd Skynyrd with special guest Alex Williams, the Grandstand lineup includes two nights of the Red Wilk Construction CBR Bull Bash, Big & Rich with opening act Corbin Easton, Justin Moore with Ned LeDoux and the “Thunder at the Fair” Outlaw Truck & Tractor Pull.
