The South Dakota Supreme Court has approved the appointment of Patrick McCann as the new full-time magistrate judge for the Third Judicial Circuit.
McCann previously served as Deputy State’s Attorney for Codington County from 2012-2015 before being appointed as Codington County State’s Attorney in 2015. McCann was then elected as State’s Attorney in 2016. The Third Judicial Circuit includes Beadle, Clark, Hand, Jerauld, Kingsbury and Sanborn counties as well as Brookings, Codington, Deule, Grant, Hamlin, Lake, Miner, and Moody,
McCann is a 2008 graduate of the University of South Dakota where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science with an English minor. He is a 2011 graduate of the Creighton University – School of Law (Omaha, NE).
