Huron Mayor Dave McGirr will be in Pierre this morning to give testimony on a bill that would allow cities and counties to temporarily suspend the liquor license of an alcohol service establishment that could be harmful or dangerous to a community. Senate Bill 99 is sponsored by Senator Tom Hanson and Representative Jim White, who worked with McGirr in crafting the legislation. The Huron City Commission Monday night approved a requst by the Mayor to offically represent the City of Huron while testifing on the issue. McGirr says he expects oppostion to the bill from retail and liquor industry groups. The hearing for SB 99 is third on a list of bills to come before the Senate Commerce and Energy Committee. Those hearings begin at 10 AM. We’ll have testimony from the hearing and will post the entire hearing on SB 99 including full comments from Mayor McGirr on our website with the story at www.perfomance dash radio dot com
