Man Arrested After Weekend Stabbing

Huron police have a man in custody following a stabbing in an apartment Saturday. Officers with both the Huron Police and Beadle County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Tamerac Apartments just before 12:30 Saturday afternoon for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival law enforcement encountered a 28-year-old male with a stab wound to the waist area. The victim was treated and transported by the Huron Ambulance Service to Huron Regional Medical Center for additional treatment of injuries. An ongoing investigation determined a possible suspect. Police found and arrested 71-year-old John Lanier, Jr. Lanier, Jr. is charged with Aggravated Assault and is currently being held at the Beadle County Jail awaiting an initial court appearance.
