ABERDEEN, SD; PIERRE, SD – People in Aberdeen and Pierre have a this week to voice concerns about a United States Postal Service plan to move some services from those cities. The changes are an effort to save money by closing the Aberdeen and Pierre processing plants. Instead, the service would be done out of Huron. In Aberdeen, three people could lose their jobs; four people would lose their jobs in Pierre. Officials say the postal service faces a financial crisis because fewer people are sending mail. They say this would save money but not affect regular daily mail service to those communities.
