LONGTIME HURON LANDMARK TAKEN DOWN

A long time Huron landmark was the old refrigeration building for Dakota Pork that has been up the hill at the former Armour then Swift location which was taken over by Dakota Pork until it closed in 1997.  Dakota Pork took over the plant in 1987 and operated until in closed suddenly in July of 1997.  The refrigeration structure was frozen in time after the older buildings were removed from the site.  Work in the area now includes the future Solid Waste transfer station, work will begin soon on a redirected 4th street southeast which will eliminate the sharp curve around the Dakota Pork complex.  The refrigeration building was taken down Tuesday May 7th with Olson Construction removing the structure.
