A busy night awaits the Huron City Commission. Commissioners will begin their weekly meeting tonight by meeting as the Board of Adjustments for a variance request filed by Dakotaland Federal Credit Union for the construction of an attached garage where proposed set backs do not meet code. When the City Commission reconvenes, Commissioners will consider setting bid dates for a sanitary sewer manhole restoration project, skid steer loader for the Solid Waste Department and two-way live floor trailer for the Solid Waste Department. Commissioners will also consider the approval of the 13th payment for the Huron Aquatic Center project. The Commission will consider renewing an agreement for maintenance of the E-9-1-1 mapping database and a right-of-way easement with Dakota Energy. Commissioners will consider approval of a resolution regarding the Housing and Redevelopment Authority debt service reserve agreement. The first reading of an ordinance regarding the duties and term of office for the governing body is tonight. A number of departmental items are on the agenda including an update from the South Dakota State University architecture department on their project in Huron, a recommendation from the Public Safety Committee to raise the speed limit on Frank Avenue to 25 miles an hour. Commissioners will consider recommendations for towing vendor, hiring of an I-T specialist and Splash Central manager, consider accepting an early retirement from a police dispatcher and issuing a civil service call to for replacement. The Commission will consider a recommendation to issue a civil service call and advertise for a police officer. advertise for a part-time library clerk and revise part-time park and rec seasonal job descriptions. Announcements regarding the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday will also be made. Commissioners will meet in executive session for a personnel matter then hold a work session at 6:30 PM regarding a Rental Housing Ordinance. The Huron City Commission will meet at 5:30 PM at the Huron Municipal Building. The meeting is open to the public.
