Legislature Slow To Adopt Laws On Children's Issues

Supporters of legislation related to children’s issues say they had mixed success in the 2012 South Dakota legislature.  South Dakota Voices for Children is holding a series of public meetings across the state as an update on their important issues.  Dr. Greg Boris, a policy advisor for the group, says lawmakers are not eager to move a lot of bills dealing with children’s issues…

Boris says they were disappointed the legislature would not go along with a proposal to put together a council on early education…

The group in past years had proposed the state support pre-kindergarten programs, so Boris says the council was a step back from that…

Boris says they plan to take another run at similar legislation next year.
