Members of the legislatures Planning Committee heard some proposals Monday that could raise teacher pay. Wade Pogany is the executive director of the Associated School Boards of South Dakota. Pogany told the committee that the average teacher salary in South Dakota is about $8,000 less than North Dakota. All other neighboring states have higher averages. He was part of a group that includes the School Administrators of South Dakota, and the South Dakota United School Association.
