Members of the Joint Appropriations Committee of the South Dakota legislature came up with a compromise yesterday that will give teachers, health care providers and state employees a modest point three percent pay raise next year.
That changed from the flat proposal that passed earlier this week.
Committee Vice Chair, Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton says they had to move some dollars around to stay within their numbers
Hunhoff says a lot of the debate centered over budget reversions that happen at the end of the fiscal year
Hunhoff says the deal didn’t involve a lot of money
The proposal will have to be approved by both Houses and then the Governor. Today is the last day of the main run of this years legislative session.
