Lawmakers Approve Funding for Precision Ag Facility at SDSU

It took a conference committee, but the state legislature has approved the new Precision Ag facility at South Dakota State University.

It’s a 46 million dollar project.

It came down to about 18 million dollars in state funding. Most will comes from ethanol subsidies that are ending.

SDSU president Barry Dunn says it makes sense.

Some of the funding will also come from a $250,000 annual reduction in Extension funding.

It still includes the approval to also renovate Berg Hall but no longer includes any funding for that $8 million portion.

SDSU has raised more than $14 million in donations for the project.
