Landlord-Tenant Complaints Number 1 Reason Residents Contacted AG in 2017

According to the South Dakota Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division, landlord-tenant complains top the list of reasons why state residents contacted that office in 2017.

Attorney General Marty Jackley says both renters and landlords contact them for a variety of reasons.

Jackley says the #2 reason for consumer complaints is internet goods.

Rounding out the top five list for 2017 are auto, general retail and telemarketing.

Jackley says while scams don’t make the top 10 complaints list based on volume, when it comes to dollars lost, scams are the main culprit.

Jackley says if you have been the victim of a scam or want to file a complaint, contact the Consumer Protection Division at 1-800-300-1986 or email [email protected].

This is National Consumer Protection Week.
