It’s mostly under snow right now but the Huron City Commission spent a lot of time talking land Monday night. First up was a vairance considered by the Board of Adjustment. A request was made to construct a twin home on two lots where the building would share the lot line with a fire wall. The intent of the project was to provide for a multigenerational home to house the Mark Rounds family and his parents Jim and Jan Rounds. Commissioner Mark Robish said he sympathised for the Rounds cause but could not support it fearing more and more similar requests could be made…
Commissioner Gary Harringtion agreed with Robish’s thought and seconded Robish’s motion to deny the variance. A number of neighbors voiced opposition to the idea at the February 19th meeing of the Hearing Examiner. The variance was denied on a three, two vote with only Commissioner Jan Manolis and Mayor Paul Aylward voting for approval. The Commission approved a plat filed by Earl Nordby to create a second lot on the former Pepsi plant property. The plat creats a new lot that contains two buildings across a joint parking area from the old bottling plant building. Also approved was the removal of a restrictive covanent on a parcel of land at 950 Saxon Drive and the transfer of propety at 451 Beach Avenue Southeast to the Greater Huron Development Corportion
