As the snow continues to pile up in Huron, keeping fire hydrants clear becomes more of a challenge.
Huron Fire chief Ron Hines, says the city water department has done a good job of keeping snow moved away from hydrants.
Hines says while property owners aren’t required to keep hydrants clear of snow, any help is appreciated.
When firefighters have to dig out a hydrant upon arriving at a call it can take valuable time away from fighting the fire.
