As Huron Mayor Paul Aylward noted the now former City Attorney Gerry Kaufman is leaving is to become the Director of Policy and Legal Services for the Associated School Boards of South Dakota. Kaufman spoke briefly before a chorus of applause…
Kaufman did have one final executive session to watch over., that for negotiations. Kaufman was scheduled to stay on until September 27th however the Huron City Commission agreed to let Kaufman out of his deal early. A replacement City Attorney has not been named. The City Attorney job in Huron will become a full-time city staff position. Kaufman was a part-time independent contractor as City Attorney for Huron for 10 years.
