Levi Kary has announced his candidacy for election to the Huron School District 2-2 Board of Education. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a major in Entrepreneurial Studies and Marketing. He spent 10 years with Regency Hotel Management in Sioux Falls overseeing multiple hotels and multimillion dollar budgets. Upon moving to Huron, Kary worked as a credit analyst and trust officer for American Bank & Trust, analyzing financial statements and investments for customers.
Since 2023, Levi has been the Executive Director of the HRMC Foundation. In this role, he led the successful $1.4 million fundraising initiative for the HRMC Christen & Hohm Dialysis Unit.
He currently serves on the Huron Public Library Board of Trustees, the Finance Team at Riverview United Methodist Church, the Day of Caring committee and as Vice-President of the United Way Heartland Region.
Kary said, “Since moving here 10 years ago, I made a commitment to give back to the community that has been incredibly welcoming to our family. I want the opportunity to work with members of the Board to ensure that the Huron School District continues to be a place where students can chase their dreams. As the spouse of an educator, I realize it is important that all staff and administrators know their work is valued. I also want to make sure our tax dollars are spent wisely. My extensive background in non-profit management, budgeting, and financial asset management will help me accomplish that objective.”
Kary’s wife, Rachel, is the Huron High School Librarian. They have two sons, Leo, a third grader and Connor, who will start Kindergarten next fall.
