Kansas Man Arrested In Jerauld County Pursuit

A Kansas man drivng a pick-up truck with North Dakota license plates led authorities from five counties and the South Dakota Highway Patrol on a pursuit that led to the man crashing his truck in a field west of Alpena. Forty-seven year old Charles Leroy Beeney of Lansing, Kansas was taken into custody following the chase with out incident. Beeney has felony warrants out in Kansas. Jerauld County Sheriff Jason Weber initiated the pursuit around nine-thirty Monday morning after a report that a person driving a Chevy Duramax pick-up had taken diesel fuel from a farm yard. The pursuit ended eight miles west of Alpena when Beeney went into a creek in the field. Units from Beadle, Sanborn, Hand and Buffalo Counties assited Weber and the Highway Patrol in the chase. The Jerauld County Sheriff is continuing the investigation.
