SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – A judge has temporarily sidelined Kevin Schieffer’s request for $23,000 in attorney fees and court costs from former employer Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad. The DM&E took Schieffer to court in a dispute over severance pay and benefits after he quit as company president. A judge later ruled that he doesn’t have jurisdiction and granted Schieffer’s request to dismiss the lawsuit. Schieffer then asked that DM&E be required to pay his legal costs. Federal Judge Roberto Lange denied the request for now while the DM&E appeals the dismissal ruling.
