The South Dakota State Fair has closed out the music side of the Grandstand for the 2014 event. The Texas-based, Josh Abbott Band gets the top billing on Saturday August 30th. The band formed in 2007 and has seen increasing popularity since. The Josh Abbott band performs a what is deemed as “red dirt” country music, a trend State Fair Manager Jerome Hertel says has a growing following. Opening for The Josh Abbot Band will be Stoney Larue and Arron Watson. Tickets for all Grandstand event will go on sale soon. Pre-sale for grandstand shows starts June 9th for backrest holders. Friends of the Fair ticket sales being June 12th and grandstand show ticket sales to the general public will start on June 16th. Joining the Josh Abbott band in the grandstand is Alabama and Boston, with two nights of bull riding to start the fair, with a motorsports event on Labor Day.
