Huron resident Robert Jones appeared before the City Commission last night to respond to remarks made by commissioner Bryan Smith at last weeks meeting regarding letters to editor written by Jones and his daughter. The letters dealt with the Southtown project and transparency in city government. Smith stated last week that he believed Jones was “smearing” the project with other issues. Jones said last night that he apologized if his comments in the letters were misleading.
Jones says he doesn’t believe the commission asked enough questions about the project during the February meetings when rezoning and the tax increment funding proposals were discussed.
Following Jones’ comments, Mayor Paul Aylward reminded the public that the special election to decide the issue will be held next Tuesday.
Polls will be open from 7am-7pm at the Huron Arena.
