PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Gov. Dennis Daugaard has appointed Chuck Jones, of Flandreau, to the vacancy created by the resignation of Republican Sen. Russell Olson, of Wentworth, earlier this fall. Jones is general manager of the Royal River Casino in Flandreau. He also has served as a city administrator in Flandreau, and is an Army veteran who served overseas during the Persian Gulf War in the early 1990s. Daugaard says Jones has been a leader in his community and as a military veteran understands the importance of public service. Jones says he’s “humbled by the trust and confidence” Daugaard has placed in him. District eight includes Sanborn and Miner Counties.
