Jon Schouten Named New Tiger Boys Basketball Coach

Jon Schouten has been named head boys basketball coach of the Huron Tigers. Schouten has been Huron’s JV coach the past three years. Schouten says he grew up in a gym with his dad Terry, who was a long time coach at James Valley Christian in Huron.

Schouten says he knows the kids and the roster well and that gives him a head start already.

His five years on the Tiger staff has him ready for this move.

Schouten is a graduate of James Valley Christian School in Huron and Northwestern College in Orange City, IA. He was head coach of the JV program at Northwestern in 2011-12, and has been freshman girls, freshman and sophomore boys, and JV boys coach in Huron over the past six years. He replaces Tim Buddenhagen, who is moving to head girls after 17 years as head boys coach in Huron.
