Congressman Dusty Johnson was in Huron Monday, touring Dakota Provisions and meeting with workers.
With Dakota Provision’s diverse workforce, immigration was a natural topic of discussion.
Johnson says legal immigration, when done well, can be a boon to the U.S. economy.
Johnson says the rules need to be followed but the legal immigration process has to work in a timely fashion.
The congressman says his recent trip to the United States-Mexico border illustrated to him how easy it is to enter the country illegally. He says that part of the system is broken.
While Johnson credits the President for spending a great deal of time on the issue of immigration, he says there hasn’t been much progress in Washington.
