Jerauld, Spink, Hyde, Clark Counties Host Primary Races Tuesday

A number of other primary races were held across the listening area last night. Jerauld County saw 45-percent voter turnout as States Attorney Casey Bridgeman lost his Republican primary race against Deidrich Koch 230 to 150. Koch got 60-point-five percent of the vote. In Hyde County Cassandra Gutzmer beat Tristan Molitor 129 to 56 in a Republican primary for county coroner. Kathy Ludwig and Kerry Dawson will move on to November after good showings in the Spink County Democratic Primary for County Treasurer. Ludwig had 416 vote or 51-percent of the vote. Dawson got 383 tallys for 47-percent. Janell Shottenkirk got only 13 votes. The District 4 Republican primary for Spink County Commission went to Patrick Kramp, who beat Tom Scott 63 to 40. There were two South Dakota Senate Primaries in the area last night. In District Two, which includes Spink and Clark Counties, Incumbent Art Fryslie survived a close match-up with Norbert Barrie, 724 to 653. Fryslie had 52-percent of the vote. And in District 20 which now includes Jerauld County, Incumbent Mike Vahle cruised to a nearly 900 vote win over Steve “Sibby” Sibson 1938 to 1043. The best voter turn-out in the area was nearly 60-percent of registered Republicans voting in Jerauld County.
