The Huron City Commission gave approval to a variance request made by the South Dakota State Fair, for a Governor’s House to be placed on State property east of the Fairgrounds. Hertel says the permanent home is slightly larger than a traditional Governor’s House at 50 feet by 30. A typical Governor’s House is 24 by 32. The home will act more as a bunk house with the only interior walls separating the living quarters from the restrooms….

Bedding will consist of three-high bunks. Hertel says the plan has been approved by the State Fire Marshall, State Risk Management Office and the Department of Corrections.
