Individual FEMA Aid Denied For Hand, Kingsbury Counties

Flooding At Lake Thompson in Kingsbury County

People and businesses hurt by flooding in four South Dakota counties are now eligible for disaster aid.  The Federal Emergency Management Agency initially denied the request for individual aid in 11 South Dakota counties. The state appealed, and FEMA has now approved aid for people and businesses in Charles Mix, Hughes, Stanley and Union counties. Individual aid has not been approved for the other seven counties, but FEMA says other counties could be added to the approval list later. The other seven counties are Clay, Day, Hamlin, Hand, Lyman, Kingsbury and Yankton.
