Hyde County Arrest Leads To Deportation

A Mexican Citizen was sentenced Monday in Federal Court to two years in prison and a year of supervised release for being in the US illegally. Albert Villannueva-Luna must also pay restitution after sentencing on a federal charge of Illegal Reentry After Deportation. Luna was arrested by the Hyde County Sheriff’s Office last July for grand theft and driving under the influence. Luna told law enforcement at the time he was a citizen and national of Mexico but did not have any immigration papers. A criminal check of Luna found him previously arrested in Texas by Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents, where he was then deported. He was turned over to the US Marshall’s Service to immediately begin serving his sentence
