Huron's Nerland To Be Honored At South Dakota Rock n' Roll HOF

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – Ten bands and four individuals with ties to the South Dakota area will be inducted into the South Dakota Rock & Roll Music Association’s Hall of Fame next year. The April 13 induction ceremony will be headlined by The Trashmen, a Twin Cities band that hit it big with the 1963 hit “Surfin’ Bird.”  Also performing will be The Hursmen and Ma’s Boys from Sioux Falls, Nickel Bag of Soul from Flandreau, Outer Limits from Madison, Burch Ray & The Walkers from Spearfish, Lads of Sherwood from Sisseton, The Roselles Brothers from Lead, and the 7 Sons and The Velaires from Iowa.  Iowa promoter Dick Matousek, DJ Ray Durkee from Aberdeen, Dennis Brown (DJ Jim Rose) from Aberdeen and the late Lloyd Nerland from Huron are also being honored.
