HURON SCHOOL DISTRICT PLAN PRESENTED

The Huron School Board met in the HHS auditorium for a community meet to discuss their back to school re-entry plan.  Superintendent Terry Nebelsick talks about the proposal for a three lane approach to start the school year.

Joe Carr with the Beadle County Covid 19 unified task force explains how the task force determines what lane is recomended.

Most area schools using the recommendation of the task force for the lane approach.  The proposal voted on last first reading last night is available to review on the Huron School district web site.  With community members in attendance some voicing concerns.  Dr Elyse Fox spoke about why she thought it was important for the district to start the school year requiring mask usage.

In a press conference earlier in the day Governor Kristi Noem talked about the importance of children going back to open schools.

She spoke about district requiring students to wear masks.

The first reading was approved.  Community input will be taken and the second reading will be at the next scheduled Huron School Board meeting.  As it stands now Huron Schools will start the year in the yellow lane and require masks.
