The Huron School Board of Education is meeting tonight at the Instructional Planning Center at the Huron Arena. Board member will consider five new hires and two resignations among items on the consent agenda. There is a contract up for board consideration as well. Successes in the district will be celebrated and acknowledged including nods to the Girls Volleyball team, 2013 E-S-D All Conference Team members, and All State Chorus and Orchestra members. The Board will also acknowledged seven different groups with thanks from the District. The Huron School Board will hear five different reports including the Good News Report, a presentation of Spirit Card funds from American Bank and Trust, an Apple Workshop and iPad Initiative and Superintendent’s Report. Three items of new business include consideration of allowing School Resource Officer Nathan Benjamin to submit a Homeland Security Grant Application for magnetic locks on all external doors at the High School and consideration of two items relating to the Associated School Boards of South Dakota. There is no old business listed for consideration. The Huron School Board will also allow time for any community input. The Huron School Board will meet tonight at 5:30 PM on the second floor of the Huron Arena at the Instructional Planning Center. The meeting is open to the public.
