The Huron Public Library has a new mobile hotspot opportunity for patrons. A hotspot is a wireless access point providing internet access to mobile devices such as laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. Service is available through the AT&T network. Patrons may check out the library’s mobile hotspot units for a seven-day period. In order to take a hotspot home, patrons must have a library card in good standing.
Borrowers are limited to checking out one hotspot at a time. There are no renewals on hotspots, however, patrons may reserve a unit for a specific date and time. Hotspots must be returned to the library circulation desk during regular business hours.
Mobile Hotspots may be checked out by a resident of the City of Huron and Beadle County who is eighteen (18) years-of-age or older with a 6-months-or-older active Huron Public Library Card in good standing. Good standing is defined as an account with a current address and phone number, and no outstanding fines or fees. Cardholders must sign a rental agreement. A $2 overdue fine will be charged each day the device is returned late. Hotspots will deactivate when overdue.
The hotspot cannot be used internationally. Hotspots must be kept in a temperature-controlled environment. They should not be kept in hot cars. Borrowers are responsible for replacement costs of approximately $200.00 if any damage or loss results from accident, theft, misuse, or neglect while the hotspot is in their possession. Internet service relies on cell tower technology and coverage. User experience can vary based on location.
The library is not responsible for personal information shared over the Internet or for information or websites accessed. The Library or AT&T is not responsible for any files, data, or personal information accessed, transmitted, lost and/or damaged while accessing the internet via the mobile Hotspot. The library is not responsible for any liability, damage, or expense incurred resulting from the use of the hotspot. Parents and or guardians are responsible for the use of the hotspot by minors. Internet content filtering is not provided through the hotspot.
