Huron Police Remind Motorists to Be Vigilant in School Zones

In recent weeks two children in Huron have been struck by motorists. The Huron Police Department is reminding residents to be extra vigilant when driving through school zones.

Sgt. Casey Spinsby says motorists need to observe speed limits and other traffic signs posted in school zones.

Spinsby also reminds motorists to be extra cautious tonight as young trick or treaters don’t always have safety foremost in their minds.

Parents are encouraged to put reflective tape on their children’s costumes and trick or treat bags to make them more visible to motorists. It’s also a good idea for kids to carry flashlights or glow sticks to help them see where they are going and to be seen by drivers.
