Huron Police are investigating a stabbing and assault at an apartment complex last night. Police were called around 10:15 last night to an apartment in Southwest Huron. Two Press log enteries show police being called to 910 15th SW for a Keep the Peace call at 10:23 followed by an officer stopping at the location again at 2:13 this morning. Interim Police Chief Denny Meyer says arriving officers found a 29-year old victim with two stab wounds who was transported to Huron Regional Medical Center, treated and released this morning. Twenty-one year old Jovanny Velez and 25-year-old Luis Perez were detained at the scene and taken to the Beadle County Jail on Aggravated Assault charges. At a bond hearing Friday morning Judge Jon Erickson set bond at 10-thousand dollars cash or surety for Velez. No bond decision was made on Perez. Deputy States Attorney Jeff Banks told the court he felt both men were a risk to the community. Banks says Perez has been indicted on a Felony drug charge and is on parole. A parole hold has been placed on Perez. Meyer says a baseball bat was involved and a vehicle was also damaged. Police are continuing to investigate and follow up on the incident.
