Huron police arrested a 17-year-old male Thursday following a foot chase through southeast Huron. A witness reported seeing the male sitting in the front seat of her car in a parking lot. As the witness approached the vehicle the suspect exited and ran. Public Information Officer Sergeant Brandon Neitzert says when police located a juvenile matching the description, the juvenile jumped a fence and attempted to flee. The suspect was located hiding in a tree and then taken into custody. The 17-year-old is charged with two counts of criminal entry into a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. In both instances the vehicles were unlocked. Neitzert says the Huron Police Department is again encouraging the public to make sure vehicles stored or parked outside are locked and any valuables removed to minimize the chance of being a victim.
