The Huron Police Department’s Citizen’s Police Academy will gather for the seventh time tonight as they get a look into the realm of traffic enforcement. Students tonight will go over South Dakota traffic laws and the role of police in traffic enforcement and accident investigation. Speed detecting radar will be explained and demonstrated. The class will also learn about impaired driving from explaining D-U-I enforcement. Students will be put through field sobriety tests. The Department’s Drug Recognition Expert, Officer Mark Johnson will talk about his role as the D-R-E. The class will also do exercises with fatal vision goggles.
