Huron Native With First Hand Knowledge Of Accused Prison Gaurd Killer

Huron native and Meade County State’s Attorney Jesse Sondreal says Eric Robert hired a psychiatrist in 2008 in an attempt to reduce his 80-year sentence.   Sondreal said that the psychiatrist testified extensively for Robert saying he was not a danger to society. Sondreal said he presented conflicting testimony from Robert‘s former cellmate who called Robert the scariest individual he ever met….

Judge Warren Johnson ruled against a sentence modification.
Sondreal said he believes both Robert and Rodney Berget are unable to be rehabilitated, and they deserve the death penalty.  Attorney General Jackley, who is the lead prosecutor in the case, says that while the death penalty is an option for each of the inmates, it’s too early to say if he’ll seek that outcome.
