Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is pleased to announce Huron native Tatiana Lopez, RN, has been promoted to director of the medical/surgical/ICU units, effective August 9, 2021, according to Dawn Allen, RN, MHA, vice president of patient services for HRMC.
In her new role, Lopez plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and evaluates the activities of medical, surgical and ICU nursing services at HRMC. Lopez works with other nursing leaders and supervisors to facilitate patient care, manage day-to-day staffing and mentor staff.
“Tatiana exhibits a strong commitment to excellence in nursing and high quality of care standards which make her a great fit for this role,” says Allen. “Additionally, her experience in a 500+ bed hospital also brings us a ‘fresh’ set of eyes on our existing processes as we continually improve and evolve to provide excellent care in an ever-changing environment.”
Prior to joining HRMC last November as an emergency room nurse, Lopez worked as a nurse at the St. Cloud Hospital in Minnesota. She earned her LPN and Associate of Science Degree in Nursing from St. Cloud Technical and Community College. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Utah.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead a great team of both seasoned and new nursing staff in my hometown,” said Lopez. “The challenges we’ve faced through the COVID-19 pandemic made a great impact. I see a strength and determination and cohesiveness in the care teams here – and I’m excited to build on that foundation to continue to meet the challenges as we provide personalized, quality care for our community members – close to home.”
Originally from Huron, Lopez has moved back along with her husband, Andy, and their almost 2-year-old son Izen. She is one of four siblings from the Rob and Jane Sondreal family. In her spare time, Lopez enjoys doing house projects such as remodeling and painting.
