A Huron man, who two years ago was arrested during the execution of a high risk search warrant, has pleaded guilty in federal court to a weapons violation. Twenty five year old Martin Rios, Jr pleaded guilty Wednesday to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Law enforcement found Rios with a 40-caliber semi-automatic Hi Point pistol. One of the Texas warrants was for an attempted murder charge, to which Rios was convicted of. That made Rios a felon and prohibited him from possessing a firearm. A pre-sentencing investigation was ordered by U-S Magistrate Judge John Simko. A sentencing date on the firearms charge has not been set. Rios could get up to 10 years in federal prison and or a 250-thousand dollar fine. The execution of the search warrant on Rios two years ago caused the Huron Regional Medical Center to cancel it’s roll in a state-wide mock disaster drill that was organized by the South Dakota Department of Health.
