Huron police are releasing little information regarding the alleged sexual assault of a minor. Thirty-one year old Charles Newman was arrested Tuesday on charges of first degree rape, sexual contact with a child under 16 and two counts of enticing a minor child away. A bond hearing for Newman took place Thursday. Newman is being held in the Beadle County Correctional Facility on a 25-thousand dollar cash bond Huron police conducted an investigation into Newman and the alleged misconduct following a complaint from a local parent. Public Information Officer Sarah Bowen says additional information is not being released at this time due to the nature of the investigation and the fact that the investigation is on going.
