Huron Library Looking To Trade Food For Fines

imgresThe Huron Public Library is wants to give you a break if lost track of that last book you checked out. Library Circulation Manager Angela Bailey says the Food for Fines Program is a chance to clear your books of overdue library fees….

Food collected will go to the Heartland Region United Way’s Backpack program. Lost or damaged item replacement costs, collection agency fees and future overdue fines will not be cleared with bringing in food items….

The items most in need canned vegetables and fruit, canned soups, cereal, pasta, and peanut butter. Items should not be open containers, repacked or expired and your reminded to bring your library card, of course. For more information, you can contact the Huron Public Library at 353-8530. Bailey says last year was the first year of the program. They do not have numbers on how many books were returned in 2014, but are planning on tracking that number this year.
