Cody is the Department’s drug detecting Police Service Dog. Officer Derek Layher was not injured in the crash. The condition of the lone occupant of a compact car involved in the accident is unknown. The City of Huron received 28-thousand dollars from the State Drug Control Fund in March to buy the 2013 Ford Interceptor S-U-V Layher was driving. The S-U-V has been in service with department since June. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
