Huron Graduate Named New USD Men’s Basketball Coach

University of South Dakota Athletic Director David Herbster announced yesterday that Huron High School graduate Todd Lee will be the Coyotes next men’s basketball coach. Lee has spent the past five years as associate head coach at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.

Lee has an extensive coaching resume, with stops at junior college, NCAA Division 1 and 2, and also professionally with the Rapid City Thrillers in the Continental Basketball Association. His longest run as a head coach was eight years at DII Kentucky Wesleyan, where his teams qualified for the posteseason five times.

Lee is a 1982 graduate of Huron High School, where he played basketball and was captain of the golf team. He then attended USD, graduating in 1986.

Lee replaces Craig Smith, who left last week to become head coach at Utah State. Lee will be introduced as the 18th head coach in school history Friday afternoon in Vermillion.
