The City of Huron should get significant reimbursement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to cover costs incurred from a severe June wind storm. City Planner Ralph Borkowski says city staff and FEMA reps have been working together to determine eligible costs….

A wind gust of 87 miles an hour was reported in Huron on June 21st as a line of severe thunderstorms moved across east central South Dakota. Estimated damage for all of Beadle County from the storm is approximately 253 to 270-thousand dollars. Beadle County is one of seven counties included in a Presidential Disaster Declaration from the storm, opening the door for FEMA reimbursement.
