The Huron City Commission met briefly Thursday Afternoon to round out business for 2010. The Commission approved contracts with the Fraternal Order of Police and ACFSME for unionized police officers and city employees. The Commission also approved an insurance plan through the South Dakota Public Assurance Alliance. The new plan carries a premium for the city to pay of 62-thousand 200 dollars. The city will save around 36-thousand dollars by switching to the new policy. The City Commission approved a commission rate for local agent Rich Long of American Bank and Trust of 3 and a half percent. The City has had only 5 claims on such policies in the last 10 years. And those claims did not amount to much compensation. The Commission’s first meeting of the New Year is next Monday January 3rd.
