Huber Case Goes To Jury

The fate of former Highmore Police Chief Ken Huber now rests in the hands of four men and eight women from Beadle County. Jurors were handed the case shortly before noon after recieving instructions from Judge James Anderson prior to closing statements by attorneys in the case. Anderson told jurors they are allowed to concider the four possilbe crimes. First and second degree murder and frist and second degree manslaughter. Prosecutor Pattie DeVaney thanks jurors, then told them to look at the larger scope of the physical and emotional abuse Ken Huber put his wife throught and to not make a decision based on one day. When recalling photos of Pam Huber’s black and swollen eyes, DaVaney said quote ” No one takes pictures of a black eye from being hit by a box”. Defense attorney Mike Bulter told jurors the state’s evidence didn’t prove Huber intensionally shot his wife in the forehead and asked why Huber would risk the life of his daughter by shooting over her to hit Pam. He also questioned why Huber would kill his wife when she was trying to keep him involved in law enforcement.
