Hubbel Begins Campaign For Governor

A Sioux Falls woman who plans to run for Governor in the Republican primary next year says she’s had a favorable response to the announcement.  Former South Dakota State Representative Lora Hubbel announced earlier this month that she wants to be on the ballot for the Governor’s office in 2014.   She said at an event in Fort Pierre last week that she’s been happy with the reaction to her political plans.

Hubbel was a State Representative in 2011-2012.    She says a few of the issues her campaign will focus on include her opposition to the federal health care law and new Common Core education standards for schools.

Hubbel says if she were elected Governor, she would do her best to get rid of Common Core Standards in the state.  She says her studies of the Affordable Care Act led her to look at what the new Common Core Education Standards entail-and she says she’s opposed to the new education guidelines.
